Say hello to our new Media Manager!
We were humbled by the extraordinary response, receiving 900 emails about the job, and around 50 genuine and well thought out applications from an impressive range of candidates.
It made shortlisting very difficult indeed; a process we took extremely seriously and dedicated a lot of time to. We would like to thank those who applied and were invited for interview but were not successful this time.
There were three of us on the interviewing panel – Founder and CEO Anna Jones, Chief Operating Officer Emily Davies, and Non-Executive Director Robert Mercer.
We were blown away by the talented people who travelled to meet us, who spent time sharing their ideas, and who paid us the great compliment of wanting to work at Just Farmers. We wish each of you every success.
On this occasion, we only had one job to offer, which meant selecting a single candidate.
We are excited to announce our new Media Manager is Rachel Barrie.
The panel were unanimous in their decision, recognising Rachel's creative storytelling instinct, knowledge of the news agenda, compassion for farming issues and her demonstrable ability to reach beyond the agricultural sector to wider audiences. Her passion and ambition for this role was plain to see.
About Rachel:
Rachel is a well-established development executive in unscripted television, having spent most of her career working with independent production companies to create, develop and pitch original programme ideas to the UK's leading broadcasters.
Based in Bristol but raised in rural Somerset, Rachel's passion for food, farming and the countryside has been a running theme. From working as a Forward Planner on BBC One's Countryfile to helping develop A Lake District Farmshop(C4) and A Cotswolds Farmshop (C4) - following the farmers and producers behind Tebay and Gloucester Services - her work, including commissions such as Britain's Most Beautiful Road (C4), Villages by the Sea (BBC One) and Our Lives: Secrets of the Lost Mines (BBC One), has consistently celebrated Britain's rural communities, landscapes and people.
For Rachel, joining Just Farmers is an exciting next step and unique opportunity to combine her rural roots with the relationships and storytelling skills she's built over two decades in television. She can't wait to help Just Farmers continue their mission bridging the gap between the media and farmers, and help to bring even more authentic farming stories to new and wider audiences.
This appointment has the full backing and approval of our Board of Directors, and we look forward to welcoming Rachel to the Just Farmers family from September.
Congratulations Rachel, and hugely well done!
